RISK MANAGEMENT

RSSC adopts an enterprise-wide approach to risk management, and the ultimate accountability and authority for the Risk Management Framework Policy and decisions rest with the Board. 

The Risk Committee comprises executive and non-executive members, and is complemented by the Audit Committee. This arrangement was established to meet the requirements of the King’s Report on Corporate Governance.

The Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Department is responsible for coordinating and supporting the overall institutional risk management processes.

INTERNAL AUDIT

The RSSC internal audit department is tasked with assisting RSSC to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiness of risk management, control and governace processes. It looks beyond financial risks and statements to consider wider issues such as the organizations reputation, growth, its impact on the environment, the way it treats its employees and fraud.
Reporting functionally to the RSC Board (Risk Committee) and administatively to the Managing Director for all tasks undertaken, the internal audit activity governs itself by adherence to the Internal Audit Standards, the Audit Charter, the Code of Ethics and the International Standards for the professional practise of Internal Auditing. The mandatory guidance constitutes principles of fundamental requirements for the professional practise of internal auditing and for evaluating the effectiveness of the internal audit activity's perfomance at RSSC.
Internal auditing is one of RSSC's management tool used to evaluate the integrity, effeciency and effectiveness of its financial, operational, information systems and other management control systems. Internal Audit operates as an independent yet integral part of management, conducting its duties professionally and with objectivity.

OFFICE OF STRATEGY MANAGEMENT

The Office of Strategy Management (OSM) falls within the office of the Managing Director and it is headed by the Head of Strategy Management. The OSM provides a comprehensive organisation-wide governance structure that drives the required transformational changes.

In line with global best practice, the OSM has nine cross-functional processes that it must manage in an integrated approach. These nine processes all support and facilitate the execution of the transformative RSSC Integrated Growth Programme.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The Information Technology Department provides a service to more than 700 users, distributed across nine main sites.
The Client Services function is responsible for the delivery of all desktop and client services, including the installation of PC’s, service desk management, printing and desktop application support. They are the first port of call for all IT requirements.
The Application Services function is responsible for the delivery and support of applications to the business through the selection, development and implementation of systems.
The Infrastructure Services function is responsible for the delivery of the servers, operating systems, databases and network connectivity to all users. This includes the Internet, email, WAN, LAN and MLAN.
The Governance function ensures that all within the IT department comply with the policies, procedures and standards to which RSSC subscribes.
The Business Intelligence and Internet of Things function is responsible for representing the information assets of the business in a manner which adds value to the business. This includes collecting, analysing and distributing data from satellites, sensors, pumps, machines, vehicles and weirs.
The Business Process excellence team add value to RSSC by documenting, analysing and optimising the processes used with the business. They design solutions in conjunction with the business and the applications teams.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS

This department provides a corporate communication management service to RSSC, as well as the Social Investment component that mainly focuses on the socio-economic development of the Eswatini community.  In essence, Public Affairs is responsible for the corporate communication with RSSC’s internal and external stakeholders.

Furthermore, through this division, under the Corporate Social Investment Office, the cultural aspect of abiding with the cultural and royal events and activities in the country is done. This is to prove that not only is RSSC a business in the community but also a good corporate citizen in the country in which it operates.
